Aurora – Helsinki, 2005 September 12/13

Sep 13 2005

Still the same sunspot as two days before, still the same situation: the huge impacts of the solar winds happen while it is bright day at Europe (the Americans get the full show almost on a daily basis). But again, some substorms arrived after sunset – lasting long beyond midnight and providing the folks of Southern Finland with another impressive display.

The green arc is the sign that there is something going on in the atmosphere. Now patience is the rule #1.

But once the show begins, it has well been worth all the waiting. The arc is changing its colors from faint green to a mixture of yellow, green and violet.

Fast moving beamers appear above the arc and start their magic dance in the sky.

After a while, the activity reclines. And it is almost impossible to say is it worth to wait for the next substorm or was that all for this time.
