User generated content: Kingmaker or guillotine?

My colleague Tuomo Sihvola and I were invited to speak at a seminar titled “Media Playground 2009″ about the changing environment of the web.

We gave a presentation titled “User generated content: Kingmaker or guillotine?”, raising awareness for the fact that each of the conceptual dimensions of UGC (immediacy, public dialogue, customer insight, low participation threshold; to name a few) brings along both possibilities and risks in a commercial context.
